clan history

In the beginning, there was one one big group of cats. In this clan existed two cats: a she-cat named Cavern, and a tom named Meadow. The two cats would lead together -- allies in protecting the group of cats they called family.

Cavern believed that to become stronger, they would need to hunt by night and sleep by day, and took all the cats who agreed with her to the cavern system. Meadow believed that they should hunt by day and sleep by night, and brought all of his allies with him to the open fields of heather.

Shortly after the two clans, CavernClan and MeadowClan, were formed, two cats came to visit the cats. Their names were Dusk and Dawn, and they claimed to know of a place where the stars would drip from the ceilings, a place where the cats could go to discuss with their warrior ancestors. This place would be known as the Star-Drip Cave, and would forever be the place where the cats went to discuss with their ancestors. In the end, Dusk went to go live with MeadowClan, and Dawn went to go live with CavernClan. They would become the first two medicine cats.

Over time, the clans began to grow past their means -- and their territory couldn't quite support them. Half of CavernClan believed that the way to survive was to become more active in the daytime, something that angered the half of CavernClan that believed they should stay true to their roots. A similar event happened in MeadowClan, with half of the cats believing they should hunt more at nighttime to sustain the clan. In the end, the two clans split once more, and two new clans were born: BranchClan and ReedClan.

Now, the four clans exist in their own territories and dealing with their own intra-clan politics, continuing to be mostly friendly at gatherings and yet protecting their own during the other moons of the month. The medicine cats go to their half-moon meetings, and the clan life goes on as it was intended.
