PERSONALITY
friendly, curious, determined, ambitious, talkative
friendly: always quick with a smile and kindness, asterpaw has a relatively easy time making friends. while she finds faults with others easily, she never initially approaches anyone with rudeness or dismissal.
curious: aster wants to know everything about everything, whether about training techniques or about other cat's lives. she craves information, both important and petty.
determined: asterpaw works towards whatever she sets her mind to. she's determined to show everyone what she can be, and her resolve is strong. she will make a good warrior, if she doesn't talk someone's ear off first.
ambitious: asterpaw has goals, and has a strong desire (and need) to succeed. her work is all focused towards becoming the best she can be, and while she would be content with being one of the best warriors of meadowclan, she has to admit that leadership has its appeal.
talkative: asterpaw has a lot to say and is not shy about saying it. even if what she has to say has no benefit to anyone around her. she's good at asking questions and striking up conversations, especially with cats who may feel left out or shy.
defensive, overly critical, naive, nosy, stubborn
defensive: aster is quick to defend her faults, wishing to avoid criticism or others pointing out her weaknesses. she can be overly defensive at times, having a hard time at admitting her failures, and this can extend to overly defending the actions of those she is fond of.
overly critical: hypocritical in regards to her own quickness to avoid criticism, asterpaw can be quick to judge and is often harshly critical towards those who have views or responses that don't align with her own. she does her best to avoid voicing such feelings, though her mind can be hard to change.
naive: she's young, though she tries to act as though she knows a lot and is not as childish as her age would show. she lacks experience and wisdom, and has a hard time understanding complex emotions and the way others may experience them differently.
nosy: she loves knowledge, but sometimes she goes a little too far and snoops for rumors or information that otherwise doesn't pertain to her. she has a hard time keeping her ears out of other's conversations.
stubborn: when she sets her mind to something, it is incredibly hard to change it. while this makes her determined, it also makes her slow to change and quick to challenge different opinions.

HISTORY
darklily and stormbelly had known each other since they were kits, spending days in the nursery together before taking on their apprenticeship side by side. they had always been surprisingly close, despite seeming to be total opposites. stormbelly was clumsy and goofy, cracking silly jokes and always ready with a laugh while darklily was graceful and mysterious, rarely showing emotion to anyone other than stormbelly. they were always close, becoming official mates after becoming warriors and continuing to be sweet and silly to each other even after moons of being with each other. it was no surprise to the clan when darklily moved to the nursery.
the pregnancy went smoothly and the young parents were rewarded with two kits, a son and a daughter. the pair seemed opposites, asterkit showing bright calico patches that contrasted with her brother's darker tabby fur. and from the start, asterkit soon showed herself to have a mouth. much louder and bolder than her brother, she always voiced her opinions and often dragged her unfortunate brother around the nursery on adventures, though her loud squeals prevented any sneaking away from the safety of their mother.
several moons after their birth, just as asterkit and nettlekit were beginning to look towards their apprenticeship ceremony, darklily fell ill. her health deteriorated rapidly, and while she tried to keep a positive front for her kits and mate, it was growing increasingly obvious that she wasn't going to be okay. after less than a moon of growing weaker and weaker, she passed away, leaving asterkit and nettlekit alone in the nursery.
stormbelly was heart-broken. darklily was the love of his life, and without her, he felt empty. he almost immediately distanced himself from his kits rather than pulling himself closer to them, reminded too much of darklily in nettlekit's eyes and asterkit's pelt. he fell into depression, staying away from them rather than being there when they needed him most.
while nettlekit was sad at the combined death of his mother and the distance their father suddenly put between them, asterkit was furious. how dare he leave them like that? she didn't understand the extend of his grief, for weren't she and nettlekit also impacted by their mother's death? what gave him any right to be so selfish!
she decided then that she would become the absolute best warrior in the clan to show her father exactly what he left behind. she met he apprentice ceremony with tail held high and eyes determined, eager to see the great warrior that graystar would assign her to. who would help her achieve greatness?
and graystar called ashrose's name.
asterpaw was shocked. ashrose, who had barely recovered after the death of her kit? she was just as bad as her father! and as training began, asterpaw's frustrations only grew. crowtint and his own apprentice joined them on their training (or rather, dragged ash to their training), and it was often crowtint that took over her lessons and taught her what she needed to know. in the two moons of her training, it feels as though ashrose is simply a bystander to her apprenticeship.
asterpaw is frustrated, frustrated with ashrose's grief, with her inability to train her, and with her inability to just move past her grief and do her job. not that crowtint isn't a good mentor, but he's not her mentor, not officially. no, asterpaw's mentor would rather spend all day in her den rather than go anywhere with her.
