JANE of THE QUICK CLAWS
67 MOONS
ROGUE
BIGENDER
LESBIAN
Jane is a rogue—but she's not evil. She lives outside the bounds of the warrior clans but has a strong, personal moral code that she, never ever violates. When necessary, she is ruthless and will do whatever it takes to protect her group and ensure their success, but she is not violent without purpose. She can show mercy toward those who won't fight back or who have no means of fighting back. She would do anything for her group and is intensely loyal to them, but her honorable streak doesn't mean you should take her lightly; she is still dangerous and ruthless in her own way. Jane doesn't have much by way of a sense of humor; instead she is stoic, serious, and laconic, preferring to keep to herself. She values her privacy immensely.
Even from kithood, Jane did not have an easy life. She was born to a molly named Angel and a tom named Jax—both of whom were feral and grew up on the streets of a large city. Angel was madly in love with Jax, so when the tom up and left when Jane was only a few moons old, it completely shattered Angel. It was as if he'd died; Angel was mad and sick with grief and completely useless as a caregiver.
Jane realized early on that she was going to have to fend for herself or starve. She stole food out of trash cans near restaurants in the city and from other stray cats and honed her hunting skills by pursuing small prey in the gutters and alleyways. At just a handful of moons old, Jane had learned a lot of hard lessons and decided to leave her mother in favor of focusing on her own survival.
She came upon a group of rogues and ended up getting caught stealing from them—but instead of killing her outright, they recognized her talents and decided to put her to good use to benefit the group. On the whole, Jane disliked the group but liked having a play to sleep without having to worry about getting picked up by the twolegs and taken to one of their "shelters". She kept her head down, helped the group as best she could, and avoided taking sides as the infighting grew worse and worse the older she got.
The group was disbanded after a stray dog attacked; Jane's right eye was injured in the scuffle, but she got away otherwise unscathed. The twolegs tried desperately to capture her during this time, but Jane scrambled away each time and eventually made her way out of the city, toward the surrounding forest nearby.
She took some time to heal, quickly learning that she would never regain use of her eye—but that did little to stop her or slow her down. Instead, she focused on what had went wrong with the group she'd been a part of. Some things about it had been good: the protection, working together for survival, and so on. It was nice to be able to rely on other cats. But the things that hadn't worked had been terrible: the selfishness, the secrets, the lies, the fighting.
Jane took some time to meditate on these things but eventually decided she wanted to start her own group of rogues that worked for a common good and followed a code of their own. She'd seen enough in her life to know what would work and what wouldn't.
Slowly but surely, Jane began to build a small following of other feral cats that were willing to abide by her strict moral code. Some were skeptical at first, but those who grew to trust and believe in her did so intensely. The group, having adapted the name the Quick Claws, rarely stays in one place for very long, preferring instead to move throughout the wilderness—though the area near clan territory has become appealing as of late.
