PERSONALITY
Graystar is a great warrior, committed to MeadowClan and fulfilling the warrior code. He's an honorable cat with a strong sense of responsibility. He likes to think that he knows what he's doing most of the time, even if that isn't always the case. More often than not, Graystar does his best to keep a level head and consider things logically, even though it's easy for him to get fired up about the things he believes in strongly. He's normally very serious and can sometimes struggle to loosen up and be light-hearted.
He's especially protective of his younger brother Ravenstep, though Ravenstep is often the source of Graystar's headaches. Ravenstep is a curious, impulsive warrior who often gets himself into trouble despite Graystar's constant scoldings. Even though the brothers bicker, they care deeply for each other and have each other's backs through anything and everything. Always a skeptic, Graystar generally has a hard time trusting outsiders. Of course, he would never leave a cat in need stranded without aid, but he's very slow to trust cats outside of Meadowclan. He would never admit it, but he has a habit of assuming the worst in cats he doesn't know.
Graystar is deeply devoted to StarClan and treats their omens and prophecies with the utmost seriousness. He often looks to his ancestors for guidance, knowing their wisdom will help guide him on his way. Although Graystar would never force beliefs on anyone, he expects MeadowClan to have some measure of faith in StarClan; each cat is influenced by StarClan, whether they may realize it or not. Trusting in that wisdom is important to Graystar, and he wants it to be important to the rest of the clan, too.

HISTORY
GRAYKIT | Growing up, Graykit had a fairly average kithood. Like many other kits, he was always excitable and energetic, always running from one place to another. Always being looked over by his loving mother, and his protective father, Graykit couldn't have asked for a better kithood. Even so, he had always yearned for the day when he would earn his apprentice name. Becoming an apprentice meant freedom, and the young tom counted the days until he would earn his apprentice name and become an apprentice.
GRAYPAW | Finally, the day was upon him. The long-awaited day when Graykit became Graypaw was, in his opinion, one of the best days in his life. His mentor was a molly named Rainbriar. The molly was a quick, kind, but strict and no-nonsense mentor and Graypaw developed a nice relationship with her fairly quickly. It was around here where he shed his previous carefree and excitable persona, as he put all of his focus on his training. He wanted to let nothing else distract him, and he dedicated most if not all of his free time into training and practicing. With his large size, he grew to be an excellent fighter, however he found that his hunting skills were somewhat lacking. Graypaw was determined, however, and never gave up. As the time for his assessment approached, he devoted all of his time to hunting for the clan, never stopping until he was satisfied with his skills. When his assessment was finally held, he excelled and passed with flying colors. A day later, his warrior ceremony was held.
GRAYWIND | The day he earned his warrior name was, once again, one of the best days of his life. He had proven himself to his clan, and to his family, and made them proud. It was very shortly after then when his parents had yet another kit, a little tom kit named Ravenkit. He adored the young tom immensely and grew very close to him, encouraging him and even playing with him in his free time. It wasn't until a few moons after Ravenpaw started his training when Honeyskip began to grow very ill. It was a strange disease, and didn't seem to be contagious which stumped the medicine cats. Graywind did all he could to help her, but alas, it wasn't enough. He could only watch helplessly as the molly grew sicker and sicker, and then soon passed away.
Graywind had been devastated by the loss, and he knew Ravenpaw had been as well. He knew his little brother and their mother had been very close. Ravenpaw really had taken after their mother in so many ways. However, Heavyfoot had been hit the hardest by this loss. After losing his mate, the love of his life, he grew into a completely different cat. He became belligerent and abusive and often relied on certain herbs to make it through the day. Graywind found himself rather concerned for his father, but he was even more worried for his brother, who was often the victim of their father's abuse due to his similarities to their mother.
There was one day where Heavyfoot lashed out especially hard, and Ravenpaw ended up in the medicine den, saved by Graywind himself and Rainbriar. He couldn't allow this to go on any longer. He told Peonystar of what had happened, and upon bringing Heavyfoot to the leader, she banished him immediately, without hesitation. Someone who would hurt a clanmate, especially their own kit, would have no place in Meadowclan.
It was shortly afterward when he received his own apprentice, a small she-cat named Juniperpaw. She was a quiet she-cat, but very sweet and obedient. She listened to all of Graywind's orders, and the two ended up becoming quite close despite himself. He was a strict mentor, but not overly so and made sure to give her some room to breathe as well. It was very heart-warming to see her progress, though, and Graywind felt proud of the young molly. The day she earned her warrior name was a proud one for Graywind, and they still remain as close as ever.
When Graywind turned 35 moons, the deputy, Rosewillow, decided to retire to become a queen. The time came for Peonystar to choose a new deputy. And to his surprise, Graywind was named as the next deputy of Meadowclan. While surprising, the tom managed to keep his cool and vowed to do his best. He took his position very seriously, although his brother was another story. Ravenstep had a tendency to do whatever he wanted, which irked Graywind somewhat. He felt it reflected badly on himself, and the good name their mother left behind. The deputy found himself scolding Ravenstep very frequently, although the two still remain close despite this.
GRAYSTAR | Having been deputy for 19 moons, Graywind had been preparing himself intensely for his incoming new responsibilities, especially seeing Peonystar's declining health. No cat could live forever, after all. The former leader died peacefully due to old age, and then it was Graywind's turn to lead. His mind whirled with a combination of anticipation and anxiety as the medicine cat escorted him to the Star-Drip Cave. Being leader held an incredible amount of responsibility. Was he ready for the position? Would his clanmates accept him as their new leader? What if he wasn't good enough?
As the tom received his new name and his nine lives, however, he felt a renewed sense of determination wash over him. He'd been preparing himself for this for moons. He was going to be the best leader he could be, and nothing was going to stop him. As Graystar, he returned to the Meadowclan camp with his head held high. He's slowly beginning to settle into his new position, though he still finds himself wracked with doubts every now and then, though he does his best to shake them off.
