a black tabby tom with a white chest and underbelly, a white blaze on his face, and green eyes.
- AND IF THE STARS ALL ALIGNED. -
much of possumholly's personality can be summed up in this: he wants cats to think he's alright -- truly, he was young, when his father died. and he never truly got to know him, but there was a certain sadness to his mother, and he did miss his father, even if it's been a year since he passed. this has culminated in possumholly having a bit of a meticulous personality, focusing in on the finer details of things a bit too much, if you ask his siblings. he's also rather observant, always keeping track of the things going on around him and taking notes down for later.
while he may have withdrawn a bit from others, he's almost painfully loyal to those cats he's chosen to put his trust and love into, namely his ex-mentor and his siblings and mother. he's a bit of a mama's boy, preferring to spend time with his mother when at all possible, though she's obviously still grieving the loss of her mate as well. he tends to be rather noncommittal when it comes to other cats mainly due to his fear of losing someone once becoming attached to them once more. he finds himself quite anxious at times, worrying about things that may or may not come to pass, thus inevitably making them worse when they do finally occur. overall, he's rather serious for a young warrior -- though when with his family, you can truly start to see his walls come down and his true, loving personality emerge.
- AND MY HANDS WERE UNTIED. -
beechclaw and cypresscall were just like any other warrior pair -- very dutifully in love with each other up until the very end. cypresscall was unfortunately nearly entirely infertile, and despite trying very hard to have kittens, they weren't able to have their first litter until they were both rather old warriors. it worried cypresscall to have her kits be born to such an old warrior, but her fears were almost entirely unfounded when their litter yielded three mostly healthy kits -- possumkit, raccoonkit, and ratkit.
possumkit was overly attached to his parents from a young age -- and he got his name from the fact that he would go limp and play dead whenever his father went to scoop him up from the nest. it worried them at first, but ultimately they realized it was just his way of playing. his brothers were both a bit bigger than him, heartier, but none of them had any outward health issues -- and truly, possumkit wouldn't begin to show signs of having anything wrong until he was nearly six moons old. his heart was-- well. it would beat too fast, sometimes, especially when he was anxious -- and at first they thought it was just due to the anxiety, and the loss of his father when they were just two moons old didn't help things.
but the heart irregularities didn't bother him. after all, it only felt funny for a bit before it was over, a little bit of feeling the weird feeling in his throat before it was gone. and it didn't cause any issues with him being an apprentice, which is all he cared about -- really, he never even mentioned it to his mother past the very first time it happened, for fear of her holding him in the nursery even longer.
it was a sunny day, the day he became an apprentice. with russetstar acknowledging that the lineage of their late leader was ready to start a new chapter, and assigning him to one of the older warriors: a tabby tom named rowandawn. he was wary, at first, almost scared of the large tom. it took at least half a moon before he fully warmed up to him, but once they clicked? they clicked well. rowandawn became almost like a surrogate father figure for possumpaw, though no one could ever replace beechstar in his heart.
it was a proud day the day he got his warrior name: possumholly. he was named for his diligence when it came to his apprentice duties, as menial as they could be from time to time. he was a serious cat, meticulous about all of his tasks in a way most apprentices didn't show. his mother was proud, and so was he, almost incredibly so.
for now, as a warrior, he's focusing on trying to work through his anxiety and open up more, but it's hard to get attached when he thinks he might lose someone again. he fears the day he loses his mother, and knows it might just upset him all over again.
