PERSONALITY
Despite their gruff appearance, Houndfang is a seemingly lax and naive cat. They nonetheless have a keen insight when it comes to reading others, however. He's eager to act and headstrong, yet he does try to opt for tactful retreat when a situation calls for it.
Fueled by a particularly vindictive streak, he struggles with an overwhelming short temper and a tendency towards pettiness. This is partially why they were never one to really interact with their peers. Apparently never got along well with them, or something of the sort. Mostly, he's just too focused on his training and duties to bother with socializing.
He's been pretty alright, he thinks, with just having a small selection of cats to care for. His family is the most important thing to him. Kin or otherwise, he'll do anything in his power to protect them. Even if it may contradict the code, or the concerns of his clanmates.

HISTORY
Houndfang and his brother Morningheart were born to a single mother, Ashflower, who always felt fragile in every sense of the word. She was feeble minded, and easily swayed by the whims of others and her own flights of fancy. That includes finding a mate in a loner, a fickle former kittypet, that didn't even bother to stick around long enough to discover she had kits.
Houndfang was named after Ashflower's first memories concerning her brief summer romance with the kittypet-turned-loner Rodrigo, for their pelt resembled him the most. Rodrigo spent a lot of time near dogs, and the heavy scent never quite left him. Plus, Houndkit took after herself in size-- large and bulky even as a kit; she thought it was fitting, even if it didn't quite fit the Reedclan norm.
Ashflower was also, unfortunately, not the most reliable of parental figures. So, Houndfang found themselves quick to try and fill in that role for their relatively sickly littermate, and even ended up trying to take care of their mother in the same manner. They felt as if they were the only one who could, at the end of the day; because Ashflower didn't have any living relatives, and she had grown withdrawn from her other clanmates.
He aspires to ultimately be the rock of support for what little family he has, and has dedicated himself into being the best hunter and fighter he could be. Being a quick learner, as well as persistent, it didn't take long for them to earn the suffix "fang", after their most prominent skill set, upon becoming a warrior.
