AROMANTIC BISEXUAL
to sum rot up into few words is a daunting task -- though his personality tends to be simple from an outsider point of view, a cruel and unfeeling cat, there are many nuances to it that make him a bit more deep than your usual cat prone to evil -- though naturally rot's personality tends to lean towards the more sinister side of things, the type of cat who enjoys playing with his food before he eats it, and similarly the type of cat who would happily take a prisoner in the form of a clan cat and slowly let them die in his care.
he has a warped sense of humor, often finding joy in things that would be considered terrifying by other cats. rot's sadistic side comes out often when he's around those outside of his inner circle -- especially those cats that are unfortunate enough to stumble into his 'territory' he holds outside of the clans. a true chaotic evil cat, as he truly cares not for rules and only wishes for his own ideals to be held true, no matter how warped they may be.
along with the sadistic tendacies this cat has, he enjoys playing with his prey like a kitten with a leaf -- and he has no remorse for any of the pain he causes in the world. he lives his life as if to cause as much pain and suffering as physically possible, and regrets absolutely none of it. with the exception of a select few cats, he shows no affection nor care to these cats, remaining a cold and stoic figure in their face during each and every preceeding. he's ruthless, stopping at no ends to achieve his goals. and while once upon a time he might have had temper tantrums, now he lives a bit more in control of his temper, able to keep himself from blowing up when things don't quite go his way.
rot is also an intrinsically selfish cat, ultimately caring more for his own goals than the safety and wellbeing of others much past the amount he needs to get his goals accomplished. despite being arrogant about his own skills, he's also a bit arrogant about those around him -- often overplaying the abilities of his colleagues and downplaying the abilities of his enemies. he enjoys bragging about the hell they've caused, and he'd rather everyone know about it than have it happen in secrecy.
to say that one had a rough start in life, you would anticipate things like a hard time learning, or perhaps a family down on their luck when it came to hunting, finding shelter.
for rot, this was being born on the outskirts of the clans, a mewling bundle of fur -- or lackthereof -- to two sweet, innocent cats. until they were killed in front of his very eyes by a fox, torn to pieces right in front of him.
they were on clan territory at the time. rot couldn't tell you which, wouldn't bother to identify the scent of the clans, but he could tell you this: despite the multiple scents of cat in the air, not a single cat stepped up to defend his family from the cat. perhaps they didn't hear the yowling, or the snarls from the fox.
or perhaps, rot would think, perhaps they simply didn't care to help. so much for that way of life being the better way.
the cat who did help -- a large, bulky dark grey tom named steel -- rescued rot from the clutches of the fox, barely escaping before it tore him apart, too. but rot would remember the way things went that day, even in his later months in life when steel was no longer actively a part of his every day life. not all cats would help one another in trouble, and so why should he?
eventually, he would come across like-minded cats to help in his cause -- a wispy, long legged tom named shadow who was recruited by steel himself, as well as a young she-cat named rosie and -- to his surprise -- an ex-clan cat who had aptly renamed himself forestfire. these cats became his compatriots, a little band of thieves for him to command as he pleased.
and while he had no plans to take revenge on anyone as of yet... well. that wasn't to say he never planned on taking revenge at all.
ROSIE :: an ex-kittypet that rot stumbled upon. eager to please and energetic, and while exceptionally annoying, an incredibly useful companion to have.
( played by bec . )
FORESTFIRE :: an ex-clan cat. the tom is just as critical of clanlife as rot is, making him an excellent ally. he's also significantly calmer than rosie, making him easier to stand.
SHADOWS :: a loner recruited by steel to keep an eye on rot when he wasn't around. more of a friend than a babysitter, but there to keep rot from killing himself nonetheless.
STEEL :: a pseudo-father figure to rot. rescued him from the fox when no one else did, thus earning his loyalty. is partially the reason rot has such a strong hatred for clan cats, as it's fed to him by this cat.
