PERSONALITY
+ articulated. clover is rather elegant about everything they do, especially speaking. everything they say is well-thought out, and it is a rarity for them to be tongue-tied.
+ loyal. despite they complex relationships with they foster family, and how at times it seems they stray from them, they truly do love their brother and parents, and remain loyal to them.
+ ambitious. clover wants nothing more than goldenheart and lionstalker's attention, and they will do anything to get it. anything.
- victim complex. after the way goldenheart treated them growing up, they have a rather large victim complex, and tend to recoil after doing wrong, blaming it on their upbringing rather than themself.
- short-temper. clover is easy to anger and quick to upset.
= morally gray. clover doesn't always do what's best for themself or the clan - they only ever take the easy way out, regardless of what it means doing.
- snarky. they have been known to be rather sharp-tongued and quick-witted, although all is meant in good fun. usually.
= cunning. clovershade is known for their trickery and slyness - lies roll of their tongue and cling to their pelt like burrs. they don't forget what they've told to others, and so the web they weave is rather sturdy.

HISTORY
robinsplash had always been rather ignorant of the rules. a young, pretty warrior, she liked to play with hearts and leave toms chasing after her tail, but was always far too afraid to settle down. this changed when she met verglas, a loner often lurking around branchclan borders, a tom who didn't seem to care for her charades. he enchanted her, and she followed him the way toms were once following her. it was only a matter of time before her belly began to swell with kits, and she was begging him to join her.
only heartbreak could follow as he explained how as much as he had begun to fancy her, he could not involve himself in clan life, as he found himself more drawn to the freedom of being a loner in the twolegplace. and so robinsplash was left to her own devices in branchclan, soon birthing a lone cloverkit. tragedy only further struck robinsplash as blood surrounded her and her one kit, and it was within moments that she was dead.
with only one other queen in the nursery, brookshine pleaded with her mate, goldenheart, to take on cloverkit as one of their own. she had only given birth two weeks prior, and thought it would be nice for lionkit, her one and only son, to grow up with a sibling. so goldenheart acquiesced to his loving mate's wishes and the two of them took cloverkit in.
despite this, goldenheart always made sure that cloverkit knew they weren't his real kit, unlike lionkit, the golden child. he pushed cloverkit down so that lionkit could move forward, socially, physically, everything. this only continued, and worsened, into apprenticeship.
lionpaw and brookshine didn't see cloverpaw any differently, and loved them all the same, but it seemed that nothing cloverpaw did could impress goldenheart. they wanted nothing more than for their father to be proud of them - but it seemed that no matter how hard they pushed themself, they could never win his favor. all lionpaw ever had to do was the bare minimum to receive praise, while even the best of cloverpaw's efforts were ignored or criticized by goldenheart. brookshine would praise them in secret, on their own time together, and help them sharpen their skills. they were particularly talented in stalking, hiding, going unnoticed. they were quite light on their paws, nimble, quick. and while brookshine's praise helped them some, it was always goldenheart's whose approval they were after.
they began to foster a jealously and hatred of lionpaw, and yet every time they lashed out and snapped at him, guilt sat in their chest. they knew he wasn't to blame for how goldenheart treated him, but it was so much easier to take it out on him than confront their father.
they became a warrior. clovershade, named for how they could sneak up on another like a shadow - and lionstrike, for how he had the strength of a lion, so much that he might as well be able to strike one down. with warrior responsibilities, they could leave camp whenever they pleased, to get away from the suffocation of how talented and natural lionstrike was, while they were just... nothing.
even the older they got, nothing they did could impress goldenheart the way lionstrike did. they had even received an apprentice long before lionstrike had, and yet goldenheart could not care less - his only comment was that it seemed so unbefitting to give the lesser of the two siblings an apprentice. they trained mousespring with all that they could, but... still, they were nothing.
clovershade continues to struggle, now, with fighting for goldenheart's attention, or ending it all and cutting off their relationship entirely.
