PERSONALITY
Foxpaw, at first glance, seems like a diligent young tom. He's focused, attentive and alert, and always abides by the rules. On top of that he's friendly and outgoing and always seems to make friends easily. He always abides by the rules and will chastise anyone who goofs off or disobeys orders willingly. He's incredibly loyal and selfless and would throw himself into danger to protect others, whether they're from Cavernclan or not. He's the spitting image of his father, and even seem similar in personality. His more empathetic and gentle nature, however, comes from his mother.
On the other hand, Foxpaw is dealing with some serious emotional struggles. The death of his father left him broken and confused. Any mention of Vixenshade is enough to cause the young tom to retreat into himself; that, or if spoken with the intent of insulting his father, enough to cause Foxpaw to lash out in anger. He's begun to avoid depending on others entirely, despite Rabbitleap and Dewpaw lending their support because why bother dumping his problems on others? And due to the nature of Vixenshade's death he has grown an immediate distaste for outsiders and will be more than wary when faced with loners and rogues. (Kittypets, however, he's more lenient with.)

HISTORY
ONCE UPON A TIME... | Vixenshade had always been a mystery. He always had a distant smile on his face, but no one could ever really tell what he was feeling at any given time. The only other one who could read him, was his old childhood friend Rabbitleap. The two had grown up together and become quite close, attached at the hip even. They rarely left each other's sides. And one day, a third tom wormed his way into that relationship, a large heavyset tom known as Thistleflame. The three were all very close and often went on patrols together, and even all slept together.
However, Vixenshade one day met a young, beautiful she-cat. Hazelstrike was her name, and she gave off an aura of confidence and determination that drew the tom towards her. Likewise, while Vixenshade was a mystery to most cats, Hazelstrike could read the tom surprisingly easily. With how fast their relationship seemed to grow stronger and stronger, it came to surprise no one that the two soon claimed each other as their mate... For many moons, the two were happy. And one day, Hazelstrike soon came to find out that she was pregnant.
KITHOOD | The pregnancy was quite taxing on Hazelstrike, though the molly never grew worried. When the time came however, the birth went smoothly and she soon had a little ginger-furred tom resting comfortably by her belly. Vixenshade fell in love with his only son at first sight and offered the name Foxkit, for his flaming ginger pelt similar to his own. Tragedy struck very shortly afterward, however, when Hazelstrike suddenly grew very ill. Still weak from the birth, she didn't last long, leaving her only son in the care of Vixenshade. He was heartbroken, but he would do all he could to be in his son's life. He left Foxkit in the care of another queen and would visit often, watching his son grow up with a deep fondness in his eyes and a gentle smile on his maw.
Foxkit lived a fairly regular kithood, being watched over by the queens in the nursery while being visited by his father regularly. Foxkit admired everything about Vixenshade; his mysterious nature, his affinity for patrolling, his utter devotion to his clan. He grew up alongside a little silver tom named Dewkit, and his optimism and cheery personality drew little Foxkit towards him and the two became very fast friends. When he was old enough, Foxkit and Dewkit would often leave the nursery to play out in the camp with Vixenshade, and even grew an affinity for Rabbitleap. Unaware of the ominous glare from Thistleflame aimed at his father. The day of their apprenticeship was fast approaching and Foxkit could hardly wait! This would be his chance to show that he could be just as good as his father, and make him proud!
APPRENTICESHIP | The day finally came. Foxkit was named Foxpaw, Dewkit named Dewpaw, and they moved from the nursery into the apprentice's den. Foxpaw was elated; now he could train to be as great a warrior as his father was! On his first day he was taken out for a tour of the territory, and the next day, he jumped right into his training. Right away it seemed he had his father's talent for fighting, though he was also quite a good hunter. During his first Gathering, while admiring all the cats from different clans, Foxpaw would accidentally stumble into a Branchclan apprentice, Pheasantpaw. He would be annoyed at first, snapping at Foxpaw to "watch his step, furball!" but after Foxpaw's fervent apology he would begrudgingly let it go. And as the Gathering started, he would sit near Foxpaw and Dewpaw, curious about the two Cavernclan apprentices. By the end they would all become fairly good friends, and would meet up every Gathering to share news or even just talk about stuff in general.
It would only be a couple moons into his apprenticeship, though, where disaster would rear its head once again. A patrol of three warriors, Rabbitleap among them, set out to check the territory. At first all was calm, but pretty soon the sound of yowling and fighting could be heard in the distance...
Concerned, Rabbitleap led the way towards the sound. The three were shocked to realize the sounds came from none other than their clanmates, Thistleflame and Vixenshade. The latter lay on the ground, unmoving, blood pooling slowly on the ground. It didn't take a genius to figure out what had happened. Rabbitleap threw himself at Thistleflame, enraged, but the large tom quickly turned tail and fled. The other two warriors went to check on Vixenshade. Searching for some sight of life. Anything. However, Vixenshade... was gone. Thistleflame had killed him. Rabbitleap soon came back with the report that Thistleflame had escaped, fled the territory entirely. With this grave news, Rabbitleap gently picked up the body of his old friend and they retraced their steps back to camp.
Vixenshade was given a proper burial, and Rabbitleap soon realized it was his responsibility to relay his best friend's fate to his son, Foxpaw. He took the young tom out for a walk, and gently relayed this information to him. Foxpaw couldn't believe it at first, refused to believe it, but soon he was forced to face reality. Vixenshade was dead. This broke the poor apprentice. He managed to stay strong until they returned to camp, upon which he immediately skulked to the apprentice's den and sobbed to his hearts' content. Dewpaw, also greatly saddened by this loss, was quick to offer comfort and support and brushed his pelt against Foxpaw's. For a short while it seemed Foxpaw's spirits wouldn't recover... But slowly and surely, Foxpaw began to look toward the future. Now he's more determined than ever to live up to the good name his father left behind, to one day take his revenge on the tom that murdered him. Thistleflame's motives remain unknown, but Foxpaw is certain that if he encounters him again, he will not let him get away with it.
Foxpaw is a moon away from earning his warrior name. He just wishes his father could be here to witness it... But Rabbitleap tells him Vixenshade will be watching from Starclan, along with his mother. He hopes that's true.
