HAZELPAW(SHINE) of REEDCLAN
8 MOONS
MEDICINE CAT APPRENTICE
DFAB NON-BINARY (THEY/THEM)
GREY/PANROMANTIC DEMISEXUAL
Hazelkit had a relatively unremarkable kithood. They were born to a remarkable pair of warriors and had two strong older siblings to follow in the footsteps of. There were a lot of expectations put on them, and Hazelkit realized from an early age that they weren't overly fond of fighting. When rough-housing with their siblings, they often grew overwhelmed quickly and would back away from the fight. Their mother hoped that they would grow out of this one day, but Hazelkit confided in their father that they didn't enjoy fighting and that becoming a warrior frightened them.
After six long moons, Hazelpaw was finally named an apprentice. At first, they didn’t do so well; they were clumsy and afraid, though they did their best to help the clan and internalize their mentor's lessons as much as they could.
It became quickly apparent that they likely weren’t ever going to be a good fighter, they knew this disappointed their mother and several other members of their family, though Hazelpaw continued to work their tail off. However, their ability to identify herbs and flowers didn’t go unnoticed. Soon after, they were tapped to become the medicine cat apprentice, which Hazelpaw readily and happily accepted.
Shortly after getting their apprentice name, Hazelpaw's father was killed on a patrol. It was a hard time for the whole family, but Hazelpaw took it especially hard; they were so close to their father, and losing him was a huge blow to their confidence. Sure, they had Raveneye to support them, but their father had been the cat closest to them out of anyone; they felt incredibly alone after he died.
It's been two moons since they took up the mantle of MCA and lost their father, and so far, Hazelpaw has excelled in their training and finds themself becoming happier and happier with the idea of one day becoming medicine cat. They can only hope that one day, their family will one day be just as happy with the arrangement.

PERSONALITY
+ Compassionate: Hazelpaw cares deeply about their family, their friends, and their clan overall. They want everyone to be well and won’t hesitate to show worry or concern when they think another cat is hurt or going through a hard time.
+ Earnest: Regardless of what they might be taking part in, Hazelpaw has an eagerness to learn and grow as a cat and will throw themself wholeheartedly into whatever task they undertake. The kind of conviction they often show is both sincere and intense.
+ Selfless: Going right along with their compassion, Hazelpaw often cares little for themself and their own well being and would sooner share their meal, nest, or what have you with someone who needed it more. They yearn to help others in any way that they can, even if it comes at a detriment to themself.
> Determined: Hazelpaw can sometimes be a hard-headed young cat, sometimes to the point of stubbornness. When they undertake something, they become determined to complete the task or goal regardless of any outside factors.
> Emotional: They are the kind of cat who feels all of their emotions intensely. Hazelpaw struggles to be stoic; they can be easily flustered, and when they become upset, they tend to show it either by crying or pouting until the moment passes. However, this also means they feel their positive emotions strongly, too, often exuding auras of serenity and happiness when they are in a good mood.
> Imaginative: Extremely creative, Hazelpaw has a wild imagination and loves to make up stories and unusual solutions to problems. However, sometimes, they can get lost in their fantasies, too busy living in the stories they make up in their head to pay attention to the real world around them.
- Naive: Hazelpaw sees the good in everyone and everything, even when there isn’t any good to be found. They’re optimistic and trusting, which is a good thing, but it’s to the point where it can cloud their judgment and the wool can easily be pulled over their eyes.
- Cowardly: The bottom line is, Hazelpaw can’t fight. They don’t like to do it, and they’re not good at it. They never even liked play-fighting as a kit. They have no real means to defend themself if they ever get into trouble, and would more than likely run from a fight if one started in front of them.
- Disorganized: Hazelpaw is an absent-minded and forgetful cat, which often leaves them disorganized. They struggle to keep things orderly; their thoughts are often scattered.

RELATIONSHIPS
MOTHER:
Ninthstorm ( Alive )
Hazelpaw and Ninthstorm have a very complicated relationship. Although Ninthstorm is a strong and protective mother, she also prides herself on being a great warrior and can’t help but feel more than a little disappointed by Hazelpaw’s inability to fight. Hazelpaw tries to do all they can to gain their mother’s approval, but so far, nothing (not even being chosen as the medicine cat apprentice) as worked.

FATHER:
Amber-ripple ( Deceased )
Hazelpaw and Amber-ripple were extremely close. Like their mother, he was a wonderful and competent warrior, but unlike Ninthstorm, Amber-ripple loved and appreciated Hazelpaw’s sensitive nature, since he was a compassionate soul himself. He and Hazelpaw were closer than any of their littermates; they knew they could confide in him, no matter what.

SIBLINGS:
Strongheart ( older brother, 12 moons)
Strongheart is named because of his sturdy build; even as a kit, freshly born, he was larger than his littermates. Their parents could sense that he would one day grow to live up to the name Strong. He is a serious cat, very noble, and wants nothing but the best for his clan. He and Hazelpaw are alike in that respect, but Strongheart doesn’t understand how Hazelpaw can be so averse to running away from a fight. The two have drifted apart since he was named an apprentice as a result.
Raveneye ( older sister, 12 moons )
Raveneye is a smart, quick-thinking she-cat so named for the dark, rich color of her pelt, darker than any of her siblings’. Raveneye prides herself on being intelligent and is fascinated by the world around her. She loves to learn more than she loves to fight, and for that reason, Hazelpaw and Raveneye have remained close even as the rest of their family grows distant. Hazelpaw respects Raveneye intensely and loves to bounce ideas or even just review new information with her to make sure they fully understand.
Mintkit ( younger brother, 4 moons )
Mintkit is a small tom so named for his vivid green eyes, so green that his mother repeatedly said they reminded her of mint leaves. He is easily the smallest of all the siblings and is a mellow cat who doesn’t feel strongly one way or the other about anything in particular. He respects Hazelpaw’s aversion to fighting just as much as he respects their mother’s commitment to it. He and Hazelpaw have an amicable, yet somewhat distant, relationship.
Flamekit ( younger sister, 4 moons )
Flamekit is a feisty she-cat so named for the reddish tinge her pelt has in certain lights. She has a thirst for adventure and longs to be an incredible warrior one day, just like her mother. She really looks up to Ninthstorm and Strongpaw, often roughhousing with her brother. For that reason, she and Hazelpaw don’t have a terribly close relationship; Flamekit’s perceptions have been warped by her family, so she and Hazelpaw rarely talk, if ever.
